Description
A sesquiterpene lactone with diverse biological activities; inhibits proliferation of PANC-1, BxPC-3, and HPAC pancreatic cancer cells (IC50s = 40, 43, and 48 µM, respectively); induces apoptosis, cell cycle arrest at the S phase, and the production of ROS in PANC-1 cells; decreases LPS-induced production of NO, PGE2, IL-6, and TNF-α in RAW 264.7 macrophages at 4 and 8 µM; reduces production of S. aureus α-toxin in a concentration-dependent manner and increases survival in a mouse model of S. aureus-induced pneumonia at 50 mg/kg
