Description
An anti-hyperglycemic compound; inhibits high-glucose- or tert-butyl hydroperoxide-induced cell death in HMEC-1 cells at 100 µM; reduces tert-butyl hydroperoxide-induced cytochrome c levels, as well as mitochondrial membrane permeability without affecting mitochondrial respiration, in HMEC-1 cells at 100 µM; decreases plasma glucose levels and increases plasma insulin levels in a rat model of high-fat diet-induced obesity at 150 mg/kg in the diet; reduces colonic balloon-induced pain-related muscle contractions in rats at 100 mg/kg; reduces colonic hyperpermeability in a rat model of LPS-induced IBS at 100 mg/kg
