Description
Our carrier-free Anti-Shank2 mouse monoclonal primary antibody from NeuroMab is produced in-house from hybridoma clone N23B/6. It detects human, mouse, and rat Shank2, and is purified by Protein A chromatography. It is great for use in IHC, ICC, IP, WB. - SH3 and multiple ankyrin repeat domains protein 2, or shank 2 is a member of the shank family. Shank 2 binding domains include a SH3 domain, a proline rich domain, and a PDZ domain. Shank 2 is found in kidney, liver tissue, and epithelial cells. In brain, Shank 2 is expressed at the apical cell membrane, cytoplasm, synapse, postsynaptic density, growth cone, and dendritic spine. Some isoforms of shank 2 are expressed during development, while others are expressed in mature tissue. Shank 2 acts as a scaffold protein anchoring and connecting membrane bound receptors, including NMDA and glutamate receptors and other proteins to the cytoskeleton in neurons to enable cell signaling. In this manner, Shank 2 may play a role in synapse formation and dendritic spine maturation. Mutations in the Shank 2 gene have been associated with autism spectrm disorder and blount disease. -
