Description
A peptide hormone; selectively binds to MC1R over MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R (Kis = 0.89, 10.64, 8.18, and 76.9 nM, respectively); induces lipolysis in isolated rabbit adipocytes at 1 µM; increases plasma levels of glucagon, insulin, and free fatty acids in fed or fasted rabbits at 45 µg/animal; CSF levels are increased in patients with restless legs syndrome with painful symptoms
