It is well documented that Etruscans, the ancient inhabitants of Toscana, had strong and fruitful relationships with Venetians/Slo-Venetians and Rhaetians. There are no news of conflicts among them and also there are recent fascinating hypothesis that the name of Trieste (not the town) and Istria comes from the Etruscan language (Pittau Massimo, Toponimi Italiani di origine Etrusca, 2006).
